You can collect some of these diplomatically, through military alliances and vassals, but you'll also have to expand your borders and swallow others up the old-fashioned way. On a much larger map you have to unite your faction, eliminate their main opponent, and then take control of a set number of far-flung locations with names like Black Crag, Hell Pit, and The Great Galleon. Sizewise, Mortal Empires is over twice as big as the Old World in terms of settlement count. ![]() So with WH1 + WH2 you get Vortex.and Mortal Empires. Sadly so as it would help with the turn timer and I never really visit Lustria or the stinking elves as an Old World faction (well maybe as Brettonia/Norsca). Though Vampire Coast on the ME map is a lot of fun too, their playstyle encourages roaming, so having the entire sea to sail around makes the world feel bigger. I had hope there would be more difference, but the campaign goals are the same, so I often find, when playing as WH1 factions on the ME map, little reason to go to Lustria and Naggarond. With LegendKeeper: Our Atlas supports massive maps up to 14,000 pixels and 100. Well, the Mortal Empire map is the same to the Old World map, but with extensions, so I have very little reason to play that campaign again. ![]() But if you also have the first Total War: Warhammer you can combine the two games in the Mortal Empires campaign, in which victory is more prosaic. Even after beating the vortex campaign the first time and learning how to game its systems, it's still fun to roleplay as one of the factions who want control of the magical flush for their own ends. ![]() One way to win Total War: Warhammer 2 is by completing the vortex campaign, racing to control a magical whirlwind that looks like a glowing suspended toilet flush the size of Godzilla. The TWW3 stand alone campaign map cuts out that joyous hopefulness of a big world that feels like a world and sets up Immortal Empires as being just another Mortal Empires like shell. ![]()
